Every year, sales figures from the largest discgolf retailers provide valuable insight into which discs truly resonate with the market. In 2025, we’ve seen both beloved classics and exciting newcomers dominate.

Based on detailed figures from the world’s two largest online retailers, Foundation Disc Golf and Infinite Discs, we’ve compiled the ultimate overview of last year’s bestsellers.

How the list was created

This ranking is based on actual sales figures from all of 2025, not estimates or assumptions. Foundation Disc Golf and Infinite Discs are the only retailers that publish open, detailed year-end lists of their bestsellers. We’ve weighted discs that rank highest with both retailers, as well as considered which discs had the greatest momentum throughout the year.

The best-selling discs in 2025

1. Discraft Buzzz SS

Category: Midrange | Flight numbers: 5 | 4 | -2 | 1

2025’s absolute winner! The Buzzz SS tied for first place at Foundation Disc Golf, mainly thanks to being this year’s “Ace-a-thon” disc – which resulted in massive sales of the special edition during the summer season. The popularity extends far beyond this, however. Top players like Ezra Robinson have adopted the disc as their tour series disc, and many players have discovered that the Buzzz SS is an excellent follow-up to a slightly “worn-in” Buzzz.

For beginners: The Buzzz SS is perfect if you find that regular midrange discs often fade too much to the left (for right-handed backhand throwers). It flies straight longer before settling down.

2. Discraft Buzzz (including Fuzed Line)

Category: Midrange | Flight numbers: 5 | 4 | -1 | 1

The immortal classic. The Buzzz has been one of the world’s best-selling discs for over two decades, and 2025 was no exception. Foundation Disc Golf reports that the Buzzz took a solid second place in sales, while Infinite Discs placed the new Fuzed Line Buzzz in third. The Fuzed Line version brought something entirely new to the market: a sawblade-like pattern on the rim that not only looks cool but also provides a bit of extra grip. This version flies marginally more stable than a standard Buzzz.

For beginners: The Buzzz is the most frequently recommended midrange for players who want one disc that can be thrown anywhere between 200 and 300 feet. It requires minimal power and provides maximum precision.

3. MVP Neutron Trail

Category: Fairway driver | Flight numbers: 10 | 5 | -1 | 1

This is MVP’s big success story in 2025. The Trail topped the sales list at Infinite Discs and was one of the most talked-about discs throughout the year. Although it’s classified as a speed 10 driver, it behaves more like a speed 8-9, making it extremely manageable for most players. The Trail delivers impressive distance combined with predictable control – a rare combination.

For beginners: This is the dream disc for those who want to throw farther without having to increase arm speed. The Trail gives you an extra 50-60 feet compared to a midrange, but without losing control.

4. Discraft Luna

Category: Putter | Flight numbers: 3 | 3 | 0 | 3

Paul McBeth’s signature putter experienced a renaissance in 2025. After several years of declining sales, the Luna climbed back to fourth place at Foundation Disc Golf. Three factors drove this increase: McBeth himself returned to the top of the world rankings and received more TV time, Anthony Barela continued to impress with his Luna upshots, and not least – the viral “Luna Battles” videos between McBeth and Barela created enormous interest, which resulted in popular Luna Battle Packs from Discraft.

For beginners: The Luna is a stable putter that’s minimally affected by wind. It’s a bit stiffer in the plastic than many other putters, which some people like, while others prefer softer alternatives.

5. Discraft Zone

Category: Approach/Putter | Flight numbers: 4 | 3 | 0 | 3

The Zone remains the world’s best-selling approach disc, even though it fell from first place (2024) to fifth place at Foundation in 2025. The decline is primarily due to two factors: the launch of the Zone SS took some of the sales, and Brodie Smith’s more withdrawn role in tournament play and on social media led to fewer “Get Freaky” editions. But the Zone is still an essential disc in countless players’ bags.

For beginners: The Zone is the ultimate “safety disc” for short throws of 100-200 feet where you can’t afford mistakes. It always hooks left (for right-handed backhand) and stops quickly.

6. Innova Wraith

Category: Distance driver | Flight numbers: 11 | 5 | -1 | 3

The Wraith is one of discgolf’s most famous classics, and the I-Blend version secured second place for the disc at Infinite Discs. The I-Blend plastic gives the Wraith a softer, more grip-friendly feel with a bit more glide and less fade than the standard Star version. This makes the disc better suited for more types of players.

For beginners: The Wraith is often called “the Destroyer for regular people.” It gives you distance driver length (300+ feet) without requiring as much power as the really fast discs.

7. Discmania MD3

Category: Midrange | Flight numbers: 5 | 5 | 0 | 2

The MD3 made a massive comeback in 2025 and landed in third place at Foundation Disc Golf. Much of this sales surge was driven by the special “Break 68” edition celebrating Hunter’s historic round in New London – a two-year YouTube series that culminated in this milestone. But even outside the special stamps, the MD3’s popularity grew, especially after Gannon Buhr started using the disc.

For beginners: The MD3 is a bit more overstable than the Buzzz, which means it can handle more power and wind. Perfect as the next step when you start mastering the Buzzz.

8. Infinite I-Blend Emperor

Category: Distance driver | Flight numbers: 12 | 5 | -1 | 2.5

The Emperor from Infinite Discs’ own production line took fourth place at the retailer. With its slightly domed profile, the Emperor delivers impressive glide and distance potential with moderate turn and powerful finish. The I-Blend plastic (made from recycled material) provides good grip and makes this version ideal for long hyzer-flips and players taking the step up to high-speed drivers.

For beginners: The Emperor is a good “first-time distance driver” because it’s not overly overstable. It rewards clean technique over raw power.

9. Axiom Hex

Category: Midrange | Flight numbers: 5 | 5 | -1 | 1

The Hex continues its dominance as the favorite midrange for those who swear by “Gyro” technology. Infinite Discs ranks it as number 7, and the disc has consistently remained in the top tier year after year. The Hex is a “point-and-shoot” disc that holds the line extremely well and provides consistent, straight throws for players at all levels.

For beginners: The Hex is an excellent alternative to the Buzzz if you like the feel of Gyro discs (discs with a heavier rim). It flies almost identically, but with a bit more glide.

10. Innova Thunderbird

Category: Fairway driver | Flight numbers: 7 | 5 | 0 | 2

The Thunderbird secured tenth place on the combined list, mainly driven by solid baseline sales and the popularity of the “Hunnerbird” stamp at Foundation Disc Golf. This overstable fairway driver has been a favorite for many years and functions as the ultimate wind disc or power thrower.

For beginners: The Thunderbird is a bit too stable for most beginners, but when you start throwing 250+ feet with a midrange, the Thunderbird is a perfect disc for handling wind and forcing clean technique.

Trends in 2025

Discraft dominates

2025 was definitely Discraft’s year. With the Buzzz, Buzzz SS, Luna, and Zone in the top tier, the numbers show that Discraft has mastered the art of keeping classics relevant while introducing successful variations. The Fuzed Line series (with the aforementioned sawblade pattern) was a stroke of genius that gave new life to old favorites without changing the flight pattern.

The MVP/Axiom revolution

The MVP family (MVP, Axiom, Streamline) had a breakthrough year. Both the Trail and Hex placed extremely high, representing a new generation of players who prefer Gyro technology. James Conrad’s influence as an MVP signature player cannot be underestimated; his use of the Trail has made the disc one of the most sought-after on the market.

Personality sells

Foundation Disc Golf’s list clearly shows that personal connection drives sales. Discs like Konner Kennedy’s Shaman and Trevor Staube’s Cash ranked high primarily because of YouTube presence and the players’ dedicated fan bases, not necessarily because the discs are revolutionary in themselves.

Special editions and tour series

Both Foundation and Infinite point out that special editions had enormous impact on the rankings. “Ace-a-thon,” “Break 68,” and various tour series editions moved discs many places up the lists.
